Headingley is one of the best courses in Yorkshire and is playable throughout the year. Our excellent Greens team ensure that the course is only closed in extreme weather conditions.

Our course has wonderful views across Wharfedale, with varied and memorable holes. As well as the red tees, we have purple tees, which is great for beginners, juniors and those who want a shorter course.

Our Competitions

There are regular competitions on Tuesdays, some Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays. These include trophy competitions, multi-tee competitions (red/yellow and red/purple), with a full range of stablefords, strokeplay, betterballs and fun team games. These can be played during the day or evening, and you can easily book tee times online. Some of our fun competitions are drawn for partners, so an opportunity to play with other golfers.

We run Texas Scrambles on Sundays which is a great way to meet others and socialise. You’ll get a monthly newsletter to let you know what’s going on, and there are WhatsApp groups such as the Tuesday Twilighters, the Academy and the Thursday Fuddle. So, there’s always plenty of competitive qualifying events, and fun games to join in with.

Highlights of the year are our Summer Golf Day and Dinner, Christmas Dinner, Exchange Day with another golf club and Invitation Day. We run a Ladies Open Day in August where women from other clubs can come and play our fantastic course and sample our baking at the halfway house. We have various social events, such as MacMillan coffee morning, party nights and quiz nights.

We have regular Sunday mixed golf competitions during the summer, with chance to socialise with a meal and drinks afterwards. We have annual mixed fixtures against local clubs: Pannal and Harrogate. Plus, we run four mixed knockouts: foursomes, fourball, family fourball, and the Q Cup, which is an individual knockout giving you a chance to play against anyone in the club. We have an annual Ladies v Gents, closely fought Ryder Cup match and Par 3 Day. So there’s always something for everyone.

Our Teams

We have four teams, so you can represent Headingley. We play in the Scratch and A Leagues of the Yorkshire Ladies County Golf Association, which is a brilliant way to play competitive golf on other courses across our region. We play in the North Leeds Evening League, when 9-hole matches are played at 6pm during the week, which is perfect for players who want a game after work. We have a Friendlies team who play matches against other local clubs.

Our ladies play in many external competitions arranged by the Yorkshire Ladies County Golf Association and Yorkshire Senior Ladies Golf Association during the summer, and the North Leeds Alliance during the winter. Plus, many enter Ladies and Mixed Open Days during the year.

Our Facilities

We have a new world class short-game practice facility with free balls which you can use at any time. Our long-game practice area is under redevelopment and we’re currently installing a state-of-the-art irrigation system for all our greens and tees.

Golf tuition is available from PMG Academy lead by Mark Pearson and Callum Barker, who offer individual and group lessons. As well as lessons outdoors on the short game practice area, the putting green, and the course, PMG have a high-tech golf simulator indoors above the Golf Reception.
