The Short-Game Area

The idea for the practice area came about in 2017 when the club was enjoying its 125th year and, aware of Cleveland’s success with an infill project which had enhanced their course as well as generating income, Headingley set about looking at similar options for this new short-game area and the main practice ground.

Leading architect Ken Moodie (Creative Golf Design) designed the short-game area and Booth Golf & Leisure managed the entire project with C&C Golfscapes looking after the shaping of the ground and the construction of the features. There are two chipping greens, with one almost 50m in length, which can be played to from the main teeing area or the grass surrounds and there are several two-metre circular tee mats placed in strategic positions to encourage plenty of options and variety.
